It seems like we just completed the fa-la-la-las of Christmas and Easter is upon us. Easter is early this year, March 23rd, and it seems to be rushing at break-neck speed. Perhaps this is when we need to intentionally take a deep breath and pause to allow God to speak to us in the still quite moment.
As we move toward Easter, I hope that each one of us will be able to once again experience the joy and amazement of an event that defies human understanding. At the center of our Christian theology is a belief that one Jesus of Nazareth was crucified, died, was buried and on the third day he arose from the dead. Oh, we sing about it, we profess it in our creeds, and we read about it in scripture; but to truly believe in the resurrection is to deny science and logic and invest our very selves in God’s Kingdom.
Let’s not be like the folks who waved palms and shouted hosanna as Jesus entered Jerusalem on Sunday and then cried out for his blood on Thursday when they could not longer understand his message of a world beyond their comprehension. Long ago God did something new in the world and people turned their backs because it wasn’t the way it had always been done—did they ever miss an amazing opportunity.
God is present. We are Easter people. God has great things in store for us, if we but believe and look beyond the moment..

On Sunday, March 9th, Ryan Burns will receive the BSA God & Church award. The goals of this award are:
•To strengthen young people’s relationship with Christ
•To challenge young people to learn about and participate in the worship and ministry of the church
•To have young people make a plan for daily Bible reading and memorize a creed or statement of belief or passage of scripture
•To provide the opportunity for young people to experience the joy of serving others
Ryan participated in several worship services, led a children’s sermon, memorized the Apostle’s Creed, read and discussed the Gospel of Mark, played the drums for The Children’s Home, created a PowerPoint presentation, explored his faith as a Christian and as a United Methodist.
Ryan has already begun work on his Eagle Scout project and we look forward to celebrating this achievement with him, too.

Welcome to Sonny and Amy Gann who joined in our fellowship on Sunday, February 17.
Please join us as we gather in the sanctuary for a mid-week prayer service. It only lasts 30 minutes, but affords us the opportunity to intentionally pray for each other, the church, our nation and our world.
We have a prayer cloth ministry, where we pray for a particular person by laying hands on a small swatch of cloth. Then we send the cloth to the person as a tangible reminder of our caring, concern and prayer.
